As per decision of the meeting held by the officers of Transport Department on 12th November, 2020, the requirements for the registration of 5 seater double/ crew cab as private vehicle are as follows:

1. In recent years, vehicles under LMV category having Double/ Crew Cab e.g. TATA Tel-coline, Mahindra Bolero Camper (Double Cab), etc. were registered as transport (commercial) vehicles as they are designed to have Load Body. However, due to the continuous updating of VAHAN software and increasing design improvements by vehicle manufacturers, it was decided in the meeting that the following registration process shall be followed if the vehicle owner wish to register his vehicle as a non-transport vehicle :

1. If the 5 Seater Double/ Crew Cab have company approved pre-fitted air conditioner, power windows and power steering, then the vehicle can be registered as a non-transport vehicle. E.g. Isuzu, Telcoline, Scorpio Get Away etc.
2. If the 5 Seater Double/ Crew Cab does not have company approved pre-fitted air conditioner, power windows and power steering, then the vehicle should be registered as a transport vehicle. If the vehicle owner desire to register his vehicle as a non-transport vehicle, he should proceed with the undertaking as per the form in Annexure - II. e.g. TATA 207 DI Crew Cab, Mahindra Bolero Camper etc.

2. If the vehicles mentioned above are already registered as a transport vehicle and if the owner desire to convert it as a non-transport vehicle category, he shall do so by applying for conversion and by paying the appropriate fees.
