i) State Transport Authority : State Transport Authority is a statutory body constituted under Sec-68 of MV Act 1988.

S.T.A takes up matter relating to fixation of fares and freights for Public Service Vehicles, issue of permits for various Public Service Vehicles and general policy making on Motor Vehicles as per Motor Vehicle Acts/Rules.

ii) Motor Vehicle Condemnation Board : This Board consists of Commissioner/Secretary, Transport Department as Chairman, Director of Transport as Member-Secretary, Superintendent Engineer (Mechanical Circle), MPWD and Secretary, Finance Department as Members. The Board discharges its functions in accordance with the Mizoram Condemnation & Disposal of Govt. Vehicles Rules 2011.

iii) Departmental Purchase Advisory Board : This Board consists of Commissioner/Secretary, Transport Department as Chairman, Director of Transport as Member-Secretary, Secretary (Law & Judicial Department), Secretary (Finance Department) and Deputy Director (Accts.), Transport Department as Members. The Board discharges its functions in accordance with the existing DFP Rules . Purchase of materials costing below Rs 1.0 (One) Crore for the Department is considered by DPAB.

iv) Mizoram State Road Safety Council : The Mizoram State Road Transport Council has been set up under Sec 215(2) of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988. The main functions of the Council are to advise the Govt. on Road Safety Policies as well as to prescribe and enforce Road Safety standards & procedures. Under this Council, District Road Safety Committees are formed in the Districts which consists of the Deputy Commissioner as Chairman and District Transport Officer as Member-Secretary.
