Due to rising questions from the public, the Directorate of Transport finds it necessary to notify all Registering Authorities under Transport Department, Mizoram regarding the registration of vehicles by people not residing in Mizoram. Registration of vehicles shall be done only under Sec 40 of the Central Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 only.
It is compulsory for the individual who is not residing in Mizoram to follow the following points if he/she so desire to register his/her vehicle in Mizoram:-
1. Registration should only be done if the person whose name is written in the Sale letter acquire from the Competent Authority, a Residential Certificate or any other valid documents like Employee ID, Student ID etc. to confirm proof of residence within Mizoram. Registration shall be rejected if the individual is recorded as c/o by a person of Mizoram residence or by using Mizoram address as a Temporary Address.
2. Registration should only be done if the person whose name is written in the Sale letter acquire from the Competent Authority, an approval for doing business within Mizoram.
3. Vehicles belonging to Companies shall be registered only after producing proof that the place of work is within Mizoram from the Competent Authority.
