1. Overloading of vehicles causes significant damages to the roads and incurs huge expenses on maintaining the roads. Moreover, overloading is also one of the major causes for increase in the number of road accidents.

To implement the provisions of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 and to comply with the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in checking the menace of overloading, Transport Department, Govt. of Mizoram has outsourced the operation of weighbridges to M/S Green Hill Infrastructure, Mission Veng, Aizawl at Vairengte, Kanhmun, Kolasib and Champhai on Build, Own Operate (B.O.O.) basis at a revenue sharing ration of 75:25 between the firm and the Government for a period of five(5) years.

4. The weighing of vehicles should be carried out continuously without interruption in all four locations from 1st April, 2023 onwards. A vehicle once weighed and having a Weighing Certificate from any of the above stated weighbridges will be valid throughout the State of Mizoram.
